Marilyn Carter

Marilyn Carter and her husband Donald have been residents of Livermore since 1967 and are both retired from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Marilyn is active in the community, one of the first women in Rotary, a Daughter of the American Revolution, and past-president of Ravenswood Progress League where she was successful in re-establishing the historic vineyards.

In April, 2003, the City of Livermore, by Resolution named Marilyn Carter as the City Coordinator for military support. She founded Adopt-a-Unit Tri-Valley and was the founding President of Livermore Veterans Foundation.

On December 4, 2006 Marilyn went back to Washington D.C. to escort two soldiers and their families HOME to Livermore. She visited with them at Walter Reed, escorted them to Capitol Hill to meet with Rep Ellen Tauscher, stood in awe at a Hand-Over Ceremony where the Adjutant General of the Army entrusted their care to Livermore. She worked with the community to obtain employment, transportation and housing for the soldiers in Livermore.
